SECOND RELOOK LAPAROTOMY

  • On removal of the packs, massive diffuse bleeding was noted. No bleeding point was found. The packs were replaced. The patient was returned to ICU, and required further massive transfusion of packed cells, FFP and platelets. Further tests showed disseminated intravascular coagulopathy. Despite aggressive management, the patient developed multiple organ dysfunction. Renal replacement therapy was required. The patient died on day 14 in multiple organ failure.
